AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed Gonzalo Higuain wants to leave the club this summer amid Chelsea transfer speculations.
The 31-year-old striker joined the Rossoneri last summer from Juventus but has struggled to replicate his old form so far.
The unconvincing outputs from Hakan Calhanoglu and the injuries of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura have made Higuain’s job quite difficult.
A lack of creativity in the final third has seen the former Real Madrid man scoring just six goals in 15 Serie A appearances this campaign.
Although the Rossoneri battle for the Champions League promotion spot, the Argentinean is unhappy with his life in Italy’s fashion capital.
Gattuso has now confirmed Higuain’s frustration, stating Milan no.9 could be leaving San Siro soon.
“When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise,” he explained.
“I have a relationship with him that features great honesty. We say things to one another’s face.”
“At the moment, he’s our player, and we’re holding on tightly to him. I don’t know what will happen.”
“It’s his mind, not mine. The most important thing is to talk as men, look each other in the eyes and speak the truth.
“I still don’t understand what Higuain’s unhappy about because I see a happy lad, involved in the locker room.
“We’ll see what happens. If it was up to me, I’d keep him at my house and feed him my dinner.”
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Higuain, with Maurizio Sarri looking to reunite with his former Napoli pupil.
