Roma Plotting Summer Bid For Manchester United Outcast Eric Bailly
Roma boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly added Manchester United flop Eric Bailly to his list of defensive targets.
According to ForzaRoma, last season's Europa Conference League winners are considering a summer swoop for unsettled Bailly amid Man Utd's bid to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax.
New Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag is hellbent on reuniting himself with the Argentine centre-back, with the Red Devils on the verge of completing his mega-money arrival.
Martinez's imminent transfer will further reduce Bailly's relatively sparse playing time at Old Trafford, which may facilitate the Ivorian's switch to Serie A.
A lack of regular first-team action in Manchester saw the 28-year-old accumulate only seven competitive appearances last season, including four in the Premier League.
Low in the pecking order, the former Villarreal man may be enthusiastic about linking up with Mourinho for the second time in his career.
The Special One was in charge at the Theatre of Dreams when Man Utd dashed out £34m to lure Bailly away from La Liga in 2016.
However, the deal has not panned out well, with the towering defender seeing his underwhelming Premier League career interrupted by injuries on numerous occasions.
A potential move to Roma bodes well for Bailly's effort to get his career back on track as he could secure regular first-team football at the Stadio Olimpico.
While assessing the prospect of landing the Ivory Coast international, Roma are simultaneously working on rescuing Georginio Wijnaldum from his Paris Saint-Germain nightmare.
Talks between the parties are underway, with PSG already giving their blessing to the Giallorossi to get a loan deal with an option to buy over the line.
