Bayern Munich star David Alaba has reportedly reached out to Barcelona to offer his services amid contractual stalemate at the Allianz Arena
Alaba has been an omnipresent figure for Bayern Munich since breaking through in 2010, making 463 appearances for the club during the past decade.
Despite being held in high esteem by the ‘Bavarians’ hierarchy, the versatile 28-year-old defender has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Although Bayern are fighting tooth and nail to keep hold of their stalwart, they appear to be reluctant to meet the player’s request for a pay rise.
Alaba’s current contract in Bavaria runs out at the end of the 2020/21 season, which will allow him to leave for free come the next summer.
According to BarcaBlaugranes, the Austria international refuses to wait that long and has informed Barcelona of his desire to join in the coming months.

While the Catalan giants are inclined to welcome Alaba’s proposition, the financial fallout of the coronavirus crisis could throw a spanner in the works.
No transfer fee has been mentioned, but Bayern’s desire to retain their faithful servant will make it difficult for Barcelona to negotiate the Austrian’s arrival this summer.
Instead, the La Liga runners-up prefer to wait until the next summer to sign Alaba for free, as it would allow them to afford his wages.
But, Barca have to be aware of Manchester City’s interest in the attacking-minded left-back, who Pep Guardiola sees as a perfect addition to his squad.
The Spanish manager knows Alaba’s qualities from the time they worked together at Bayern and sees him as an upgrade to the current first-choice left-back Benjamin Mendy.
