Alderweireld not disappointed by failed Man United move

    Belgian centre back Toby Alderweireld maintained a cool head despite failing to join Manchester United. He was a prime target for the Red Devils after falling down the pecking order at Spurs.The towering defender only played in 14 Premier League matches last season. Injury ploughed his progression in the team and limited playing fuelled his transfer situation.It was widely reported that United were going to prepare a solid deadline day transfer to acquire his services. However, Spurs held on to their man but also failed to making any incoming transfers. Ironically, it was Alderweireld who stood firm in defence as Spurs prevailed 3-0 at Old Trafford.
    Alderweireld played well in the 2018 World Cup , Russia.
    “It is even a personal triumph for me to have got my place back in their team. I worked hard for it. It is not a disappointment for me that I did not get a transfer. I did not want to leave at all costs,” he explained to Goal.Alderweireld was a star performer at the 2018 World Cup. His transfer scenario seemed to have opened the door at his club. He has started and played the full length of Spurs’ three Premier League matches.
