Arsenal set sights on Raul Jimenez

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta reportedly weighs up a bid for the prolific Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez

Arsenal have already started to prepare for life after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who seems highly unlikely to stay in London beyond the summer.

The 31-year-old has less than 12 months left on his contract at the Emirates and is reluctant to waste a year without European football.

Well aware of how difficult it would be for them to keep their captain this summer, the Gunners are exploring various options to replace him.

According to Birmingham Mail, Arteta has identified the Wolves goal-machine Raul Jimenez as his top priority for the upcoming transfer window.

The 29-year-old has been a major hit ever since arriving at the Molineux from Benfica in 2018 and is arguably one of the most lethal finishers in the Premier League.

During his two-year spell with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, Jimenez has notched 43 goals and provided 18 assists to his teammates, becoming Wolves’ most valuable asset.

However, it will be a daunting task for Arsenal to convince the ‘Wanderers’ to green-light the deal, especially considering the Mexican’s contract runs out in three years.

Additionally, the London outfit will have to beat stiff competition from Manchester United, Juventus, and several other Europe’s top clubs to Jimenez’s signature.
