Arsenal ready to offload Lacazette to Juventus

Arsenal reportedly consider shipping out Alexandre Lacazette to Juventus as part of a swap deal involving one of Gonzalo Higuain or Douglas Costa

One of the club’s top earners on £180,000-per-week wages, Lacazette has two years left on his contract at the Emirates and has yet to pen a new deal.

In fact, the Gunners are willing to cut ties with the 29-year-old this summer to raise funds for their spending campaign.

The Frenchman’s influence on Arsenal’s game has dwindled since Mikel Arteta replaced Unai Emery at the helm, and a potential summer break-up is on the cards.

Lacazette, who racked up just 12 goals and seven assists in 2019/20, had lost his place in Arteta’s starting XI to the teenage forward Eddie Nketiah at one point last season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Juventus are looking to offer the former Lyon man an escape route from north London as they want to revamp their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Despite operating on a tight budget, perennial Serie A champions will try to overhaul a squad this summer after enduring another underwhelming Champions League campaign.

A shock elimination to Lyon in the round of 16 has seen the ‘Bianconeri’ sack former boss Maurizio Sarri and appoint Andrea Pirlo as his successor.

Several first-team stars are expected to follow Sarri through the exit door, with Gonzalo Higuain and Douglas Costa among the names to spearhead the departures.

Although the Argentinean striker may not fit into Arteta’s plans, the Brazilian winger certainly meets the Spaniard’s requirements.

Costa would bring pace and quality to Arsenal’s attacking department, and as such, could be an acceptable counterpart in a deal to take Lacazette away from the Premier League.
