James Rodriguez is on the verge of joining Real Madrid city rivals Atletico Madrid, according to latest reports from Spain and England
The Colombian playmaker has completed a torrid two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich only to acknowledge the fact that he has no room in Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the next season.
James has fallen down the pecking order during Zidane’s first tenure at Los Blancos, and the Frenchman has not changed his stance in the second mandate.
As a result, the 28-year-old is destined to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu this summer to try to find a regular first-team action and rejuvenate his career.

Although Napoli long seemed to be the odds-on favorite to win the race for his signature, the former AS Monaco star is now close to linking up with Real’s crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid.
Los Colchoneros have to deal with the loss of their headline performer Antoine Griezmann, who joined bitter rivals Barcelona a couple of days ago.
Diego Simeone has identified Rodriguez as a perfect backup to Joao Felix in the final third and is eager to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.
If Atletico do pull off the deal, the Colombia international will become the second Real Madrid player to join Atletico this summer after Marcos Llorente left Zidane’s crew to join Simeone’s warriors.
