Atletico Madrid are reportedly assessing the possibility of signing Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazzete as talks with Paris Saint-Germain reached a stalemate
Los Colchoneros have been trying to capture the out-of-favor Cavani since the beginning of the January transfer window, but they have yet to find an agreement with PSG.
The Uruguayan striker has fallen out with Thomas Tuchel since Mauro Icardi’s arrival and will depart the Parc des Princes once his contract runs out at the end of the season.
However, Diego Simeone is desperate to land a top-class forward this winter to improve Atletico’s chances of overthrowing Barcelona’s dominance of La Liga, and he can’t wait for the summer.
Therefore, the Madrid giants have started exploring other options, and the name of Arsenal hitman has emerged as a potential target, according to the Daily Mail.
In addition to Lacazette, Atletico are also monitoring Borussia Dortmund’s Paco Alcacer and Beijing Guoan’s Cedric Bakambu, with both of them representing much cheaper solutions.
Although the 28-year-old Frenchman so far enjoyed a prolific spell at the Emirates, Arsenal’s recent struggling has seen him suffer a dip in form.
Lacazette, who is currently on a seven-game goal drought, has still managed 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League this season, taking his overall tally to 46 goals for the Londoners.
