Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has urged Arsenal to persuade him to sign a new contract as talks over a renewal remain in a stalemate
Aubameyang will be out of contract at the end of the next season and has yet to find an agreement with Arsenal over a new deal, which puts the Gunners in an awkward position ahead of the summer transfer window.
After letting their former star performer Aaron Ramsey go for free, the Premier League giants are desperate not to replicate a similar mistake and will look to offload their captain unless the agreement is struck.
However, the financial fallout caused by the coronavirus pandemic will make things difficult for Arsenal, as they may not be able to meet Aubameyang’s terms.
Furthermore, Mikel Arteta’s men are likely to miss out on the Champions League qualification for the fourth year running, which could prove fatal to their hopes of tying the 30-year-old down to a new contract.
Although Aubameyang sticks to his self-proclaimed love for Arsenal, he has confessed that he is eager to win titles, putting his future at the Emirates in doubt.
“Recently, I have not received an offer to extend,” he told Telefoot, as relayed by the Evening Standard.
“But, of course, we have had exchanges with the club for a fair few months now.
“They know very well why so far nothing has happened. They have the keys. It is up to them to do their work and, after that, we will see how things go.
“It is a turning point in my career, and I will be very frank with everyone. It will certainly be a very difficult decision to make. I still haven’t decided and we will see. It will maybe be the most important decision of my career.
“All players want to win titles. Everyone is going to ask the question: ‘does he want to win them at Arsenal or somewhere else?’
“But, as I said, the future will tell us. As I have said already, the club has the keys to this. I am hungry to win titles, and whatever my decision, I intend to fight to win titles. To be clear, nothing has been decided.”
Manchester United, Inter Milan, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain have all taken an interest in acquiring Aubameyang’s services.
