Gareth Bale’s agent has confirmed the possibility that his client will remain at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the 2020/21 season
Bale re-joined Tottenham on a season-long loan after enduring a disastrous season at Real Madrid.
A series of injury setbacks and a strained relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane saw the 31-year-old make just 16 La Liga appearances in 2019/20.
Having fallen out of favor at the Santiago Bernabeu, Bale was told to find a new club this transfer window.
A return to Tottenham was one of a very few possibilities after Manchester United withdrew their interest to pursue other deals.
Now that he’s reunited with Jose Mourinho at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bale will be looking to reignite his career and potentially remain in London beyond next summer.
“I am sure that if things really worked out well, we’d have no problem,” his agent Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport, as relayed by the Express Sport.
“This is the club he wants to play at. I don’t see any problems if he wants another year.”
After picking up a knee injury during the international break, the Wales international will have to spend another month on the sidelines.
Indeed, despite being aware of his ongoing physical difficulties, the Spurs opted to pursue his signature, nonetheless.
Jose Mourinho’s side dished out £20million to secure Bale’s services temporarily but will be available to sign him permanently past the end of the 2020/21 season.
