Barcelona to offer three youngsters to sign £90m-rated Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz

Barcelona will reportedly taste waters for the Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Kai Havertz, as they look to insert up to three young players to convince the Germans to give the go-ahead

After Manchester United, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, Barcelona have now joined the race for the highly-rated playmaker, Kai Havertz, who has emerged as one of the hottest young prospects in Europe.

Since breaking into the Leverkusen first-team, the 20-year-old whizz-kid has made 139 appearances in all competitions, racking up 38 goals and 30 assists.

His best senior season so far was 2018/19 when he clocked up 20 goals and chipped in with seven assists, attracting the interest from the abovementioned sides.

But, according to the Daily Mail, the reigning La Liga holders will look to blow the competition out of the water by proposing three teenage stars to the Bundesliga team.

Indeed, Barcelona are ready to give up the likes of Emerson Leite, Carles Alena, or Marc Cucurella to close the deal for Havertz, who has recently admitted that he is prepared to take the next step in his career.

Emerson and Alena are currently on loan at Real Betis, while the left-back Cucurella enjoyed an outstanding loan spell at Getafe, establishing himself as an indispensable first-team player.

Although the 21-year-old made barely one senior outing for the Camp Nou outfit before departing for Getafe, his impressive performances this season have recommended him to Quique Setien.

However, if there’s the smallest chance that Leverkusen could accept Cucurella as a part of the deal for Havertz, the Blaugrana will undoubtedly renounce the Spaniard’s services without having second thoughts.

Despite suffering a heavy financial blow due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Spanish powerhouse will look to strengthen their squad in the summer, and signing a prolific attacking midfielder is among the club’s priorities.
