Barcelona have reportedly offered Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal in a swap deal that would see Matteo Guendouzi head in the opposite direction, reports in England say
Barcelona are desperate to offload Coutinho when the transfer window reopens for business, but the Brazilian’s underwhelming performances for Bayern Munich seem to have fended off suitors.
After failing to live up to expectations at the Camp Nou upon his blockbuster €140million arrival from Liverpool, the 28-year-old forward spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Bayern.
However, Coutinho’s qualities didn’t fall into Hansi Flick’s plans for the next season, which is why the perennial Bundesliga champions decided against purchasing the ex-Inter Milan star permanently.
While Quique Setien already made it clear that Coutinho has no place in his Barca team for the next season, the Catalan giants have failed to cash in on their flop.
As reported by the Mirror, the La Liga runners-up may have come up with a plan that would help them get rid of the forward’s whopping wages by offering him to Arsenal in exchange for Matteo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi, on the other hand, has found himself on the fringes of the Gunners squad following a bust-up with Mikel Arteta during a 2-1 defeat to Brighton back in June.
The 21-year-old Frenchman has not featured for Arsenal ever since and could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium in the coming months.
Arteta is keen to bolster Arsenal’s firepower ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and may embrace the prospect of having Coutinho at his disposal.
Meanwhile, Barcelona need to replace Arthur Melo, who will join Juventus for €72million, and the up-and-coming deep-lying playmaker fits the bill.
