Barcelona’s recruitment staff have made contacts with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro to ask about the player’s availability
The Catalans’ intention is to find a reliable back-up to Jordi Alba, who turned 30 earlier this year.
Ever since his arrival from Valencia in 2012, the Spaniard has nailed down the left-back position as his own, but with the reigning La Liga holders battling on multiple fronts, Alba needs a rest.
Therefore, Barcelona will look to boost Ernesto Valverde’s defensive options, with Dortmund’s Guerreiro emerging as one of the potential solutions.

According to the British outlet, Daily Mail, the Portuguese star could swap Germany for Spain for approximately £22m.
The Bundesliga heavyweights have so far struggled to tie the player down with a new contract, and his summer departure seems to be on the cards.
Although capable of covering various positions equally well, the 25-year-old Portugal international has made a name for himself by playing as a left-back.
Guerreiro’s darting runs down the left flank, as well as, his effective passing and crossing abilities, make him a perfect addition to the Barcelona squad.
Meanwhile, Valverde has a couple of back-up options should his move for the former Lorient man doesn’t materialize, with Filipe Luiz and Alberto Moreno remaining the possible candidates to strengthen the Blaugrana’s left-back position.
