Barcelona plot cash-plus-Antoine Griezmann bid to re-sign Neymar

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a cash-plus-player bid that involves Antoine Griezmann to land Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar when the transfer window reopens

Despite enduring a somewhat injury-hit two-and-a-half-year spell in Paris, Neymar has been PSG’s standout performer alongside his partner in crime, Kylian Mbappe, clocking up 69 goals and 39 assists in 80 appearances in all competitions.

But, the Brazilian dynamo is eager to part with the perennial Ligue 1 holders and return to the Camp Nou he left in summer 2017 in a world-record £198m transfer.

The 28-year-old has been flirting with the Blaugrana since last summer, but Thomas Tuchel and Co were adamant their jewel is not for sale, putting in maximum efforts to obstruct his return to La Liga.

However, reunification between Barca and Neymar seems imminent, with the Catalan powerhouse readying a cash-plus-player bid involving Antoine Griezmann to get the deal over the line in the summer.

The Frenchman left Atletico Madrid ahead of this season after Barcelona triggered his €120m release clause but has failed to live up expectations, racking up 14 goals in 37 matches across all competitions.

With a massive squad overhaul on the horizon, the reigning Spanish champions are considering offloading the French forward regardless of PSG’s stance on a possible swap deal, according to the Daily Star.

Griezmann’s value has dropped to £90m while Neymar’s current price tag stands at around £130m, which means Quique Setien’s side will have to add some extra cash to the deal to compensate for the price difference.

Barcelona are also targeting Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, who has been in blistering form this season, drawing attention from several of Europe’s big guns, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG.

The Argentinean is, however, keen to play alongside his international teammate Lionel Messi and is ready to turn down other proposals to complete a switch to Camp Nou.
