Barcelona are reportedly ready to trigger Lautaro Martinez’s release clause to take him away from Inter Milan this summer, reports in England say
The Catalans have been chasing Martinez for almost 12 months and came close to completing his signing last summer before Inter’s staggering £72million demands put them off.
However, the reigning La Liga champions are now ready to splash out their entire summer war chest to seal a deal to bring the Argentinean forward to the Camp Nou.
According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona are ready to meet Lautaro’s £101million release clause, as they see him as a perfect long-term replacement for the aging Luis Suarez.
Having established himself as the Giuseppe Meazza fan favorite, the former Racing Club man has thrived under Antonio Conte this season, gobbling 16 goals and four assists in 31 appearances in all competitions.
A hefty price tag aside, the 22-year-old could secure Conte one of two of Barca’s outgoing midfielders, Arturo Vidal or Ivan Rakitic, with one of them mentioned as a potential makeweight in the deal.
Although the Italian manager appreciates both players, Quique Setien is likely to renounce just one of them to land Martinez, even though it’s still uncertain whether or not the Nerazzurri want any counterparts to sanction the transfer.
