Bayern Munich have slapped a €40million price tag on Thiago Alcantara’s head after realizing they won’t be able to prevent the Spaniard from joining Liverpool otherwise
Thiago, who has recently entered the final year of his contract at the Allianz Stadium, has emerged as Jurgen Klopp’s top transfer target for the summer.
According to some recent reports, the parties have already struck a verbal agreement, as the 29-year-old already informed Bayern of his desire to link up with the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
Faced with the likely departures of Adam Lallana and Xherdan Shaqiri, Klopp is keen to add technical presence to his midfield line in the coming months.
Although Liverpool already got Thiago’s green light, the Reds are yet to persuade Bayern Munich to let their star playmaker go.
As per the Daily Mirror, the perennial Bundesliga champions expect to get €40m in return for Thiago’s services, while Liverpool seem unwilling to fork out more than €20m.

The Merseyside giants would instead try to use the fact that the Spain international’s contract expires in less than 12 months as leverage in prospective negotiations.
However, Liverpool may want to hurry things up a bit, as Manchester City and Juventus are both lurking in the shadows, waiting for the English side’s pursuit to collapse.
City boss Pep Guardiola knows Thiago well back from the days when the two worked together at Bayern and is said to be preparing an offer for the sought-after midfielder.
Alcantara has been a regular under both Niko Kovac and Hansi Flick this season, recording three goals and two assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
