Bayern Munich centre-half Mats Hummels is on the verge of returning to Borussia Dortmund, according to the recent claims
The 70-time capped German international ended his seven-year spell at Signal Iduna Park in 2016, joining bitter rivals for a reported fee of £30m.
Before landing at the Allianz Arena, the 30-year-old has helped Die Borussen win two Bundesliga titles, one DFB Pokal trophy, and reach the Champions League final in 2013.
Borussia Dortmund want to sign Mats Hummels back from Bayern. Concrete talks between both clubs have already been made. Bayern informed Niko Kovač about the possible sale of Hummels, the coach has accepted. Although he has been a core member of Bayern’s defense over the past three years, Hummels could be surplus to requirements following the arrivals of Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid and Benjamin Pavard for Stuttgart.
As reported by the English publication, Daily Mail, negotiations between the clubs are in an advanced stage, and the deal could go through in the coming days.
Lucien Favre’s side will fork out £27m to close the operation, which seems like a ‘steal’ considering today’s market.
