Chelsea reportedly eye up a summer swoop for the Real Madrid loanee Sergio Reguilon, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Sevilla
After finding his game time at the Bernabeu limited to the likes of Marcelo and Ferland Mendy, Reguilon joined Sevilla on a season-long loan and excelled in Andalusia.
Indeed, the 23-year-old Spaniard has nailed down the left-back position at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as his own, registering 36 appearances across all competitions.
Yet, he seems highly unlikely to thrive under Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital and seems destined to continue his development elsewhere.
According to the talkSPORT, Chelsea have set their sights on Reguilon and are already working on a deal to bring the highly-rated left-back to London.
The Blues are not scared of stiff competition in the likes of Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli, as Frank Lampard looks to add to his defensive options in the summer.
Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have both failed to impress Lampard after producing a series of underwhelming performances.
Since both could leave Stamford Bridge in the coming months, the English manager is keen to find a reliable wide defender to boost Chelsea’s chances of competing for the Premier League title next season.
Ben Chilwell has long been the Blues’ prime objective for the left-back position, but Leicester City’s £60million valuation has been deemed excessive by the FA Cup runners-up.
Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico remains a viable option, but Barcelona have recently stepped up their interest in the Argentinean star and seem to be on the verge of closing things out.
