Chelsea have reportedly identified the Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, reports in England say.
Although Sancho remains Chelsea’s top priority for the upcoming transfer window, the 20-year-old Englishman seems to be closer to joining Manchester United.
Since they are likely to miss out on the in-demand winger’s signature, the Blues have explored other options, and the name of Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze has popped up as a possible solution, according to the Metro.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have also been linked with a move for the Crystal Palace stalwart, Wilfried Zaha, but the 27-year-old’s staggering £80million price tag has blown Chelsea out of the water.
Now, the Premier League giants assess the possibility of approaching Villarreal with an offer for Chukwueze, who has a £58million release clause inserted in his contract.

Frank Lampard is desperate to bolster his attacking options in the summer since he is facing an imminent departure of Willian, who has refused to pledge his future to the club.
The Brazilian forward’s contract expires at the end of the season, with Juventus, Arsenal, and Barcelona keeping close tabs on the former Shakhtar Donetsk man.
Known for his devastating acceleration and speed, Chukwueze has impressed in La Liga this season, racking up three goals and three assists in 26 top-flight outings for the Yellow Submarine.
But, the Spanish club already showed their intention to keep hold of their quick-silver winger, reportedly turning down Liverpool’s £29.6million bid back in January.
As it seems, Villarreal will stick to their guns in the summer transfer market and continue to demand the interested clubs to meet Chukwueze’s release clause.
