Chelsea have reportedly approached Napoli with a proposal that would see Michy Batshuayi heading to Serie A on a season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent next summer
The 25-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Valencia, scoring just one goal in 15 La Liga appearances for the Bats, after which he joined Crystal Palace on another six-month loan.
Although he was expected to fight for his place in Franck Lampard’s starting eleven, the Belgium international has yet to be part of a matchday squad in the Premier League this season.
With Lampard preferring both, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham, over the former Marseille striker, the Blues are looking to offload Batshuayi before the European transfer window slams shut on September 2.
After finding himself on the fringes of the Chelsea squad, Batshuayi might embrace the opportunity of playing a prominent role at Napoli in the ongoing season.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti currently has Arkadiusz Milik as the only striker at his disposal, which could facilitate Batshuayi’s move to the Apennines.
