The Catalans are working around the clock to link up the two wonderkids at Camp Nou, as they prepare to replace the injury-prone Samuel Umtiti in the summer.
Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has admitted that the Lancers won’t be able to keep the club’s captain in the Eredivisie, with Barcelona and Bayern rising pressure in the recent period.
“There’s zero chance Matthijs de Ligt is staying at Ajax,” former Pep Guardiola’s assistant said.
“There are so many clubs interested in him. He will leave us this summer, but I don’t know whether he’ll join Bayern or Barcelona.”
