Bruno Fernandes outlines his future goals

Manchester United headline performer Bruno Fernandes has outlined his goals for the ongoing season.

Fernandes celebrated his first-year anniversary at Old Trafford a few days ago. The 26-year-old playmaker joined Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon for an initial fee of around €55million in January 2020 and has since grown indispensable for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. The Portuguese star has clocked up 28 goals and 18 assists in only 53 competitive outings for the Red Devils en route to establishing himself as one of the most highly-rated players in Europe’s top-five leagues. Having scooped the Premier League Player of the Month back in December, Fernandes has become the first player to win this individual prize twice on the trot.

While enjoying his rise to stardom at United, Fernandes has helped his team interfere in the Premier League title race for the first time in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era. Indeed, many have deemed the Portugal international’s impact at the Theatre of Dreams revolutionary, finding him the catalyst that reinvigorated the fallen giants. Unsurprisingly, Fernandes’ eye-catching showings have not gone unnoticed by other European powerhouses, with Real Madrid setting their sights on the magisterial metronome. Some reports in Spain have even gone a step further to predict the timeframe for this transfer to happen.

However, Fernandes has now played down speculations over his potential departure from Old Trafford, highlighting his commitment to the red jersey. Bruno has his mind set on lifting the first trophy with Manchester United this season. He took to social media to mark his first anniversary with the Premier League heavyweights following United’s goalless draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

“Definitely not the result I wanted to celebrate my first year as a Red, but we’ll keep working to improve,” Fernandes wrote in his Instagram post.

“It’s an absolute honor to play football with the Man Utd badge on my chest. The history of this football club was built over wins, many wins. I came here to help on continuing that legacy, and I won’t rest until I do it.

“I want to thank all the fans for your outstanding support. Hopefully, this was only the first of many years together. Glory, glory Man United!”
