Franck Lampard has played down rumors about Chelsea’s interest in Lyon star forward Moussa Dembele, insisting he has not held talks with Edinson Cavani either
The Blues are said to be looking for a new striker to bolster their chances of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, with Dembele emerging as their top target.
However, the Frenchman, also approached by Manchester United recently, is not for sale, according to Les Gones president Jean Michel Aulas.
Now, Lampard has dismissed Chelsea’s interest in the former Fulham and Celtic forward, denying having any conversation with the Paris Saint-Germain outcast Edinson Cavani.
“The stories are not true,” the English manager said when asked about his ambition to land Dembele, as reported by Goal.com.

“I’m not in conversation with Cavani, so I can’t tell you that,” he added.
Indeed, the Stamford Bridge outfit have been linked with a move for the Uruguayan, who is trying to force his way out of PSG for regular first-team action.
The 32-year-old has less than six months left on his contract and has fallen out with Thomas Tuchel, who prefers Mauro Icardi as the third piece of his all-star attacking trident alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Although the Pensioners have reportedly tried to convince Cavani to join on loan, the ex-Napoli striker seems to be edging closer to a move to Atletico Madrid, who have been persistent in their efforts to take him away from Parc des Princes this winter.
