Inter Milan closing in on Christian Eriksen

Inter Milan are reportedly on the verge of winning the race for Tottenham Hotspur outgoing playmaker Christian Eriksen

Eriksen’s deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs out at the end of the season, and he can already negotiate personal terms with foreign clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Juventus all weighing up moves.

However, Inter Milan have recently stepped up their interest in the Danish midfielder and will pay £20million to convince Spurs to sanction the transfer this winter, according to the Daily Mail.

The former Ajax star has already refused all of Tottenham’s previous attempts to lure him to sign a new deal and will be able to depart north London without a compensation fee next summer.

Eriksen has a host of admirers in the Premier League too, including Chelsea and Manchester United, but he seems to be seeking a new challenge away from England.

Although he has already informed the new boss Jose Mourinho about his desire to switch away from Tottenham, the 27-year-old has fought his way back to the starting XI recently.

But, Eriksen’s future lies away from London in all likelihood, and the Serie A giants are now one step away from bringing him to Italy.

The Nerazzurri have flourished under Antonio Conte this season and are in strong contention for the league title as they currently sit top of the table, level on points with second-placed Juventus.

If they eventually pull off a deal, Conte will receive a huge boost in his efforts to stop Juventus’ dominance in Italy, especially after seeing two of his first-team midfielders sidelined by injuries.

While Stefano Sensi recently managed to recover from a nasty injury that kept him out of action for almost two months, Nicolo Barella will have to wait to make his return for at least one more month.
