Inter Milan will push hard for Ivan Rakitic in January

Inter Milan are reportedly assessing the prospect of signing the out-of-favor Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic in January

Ernesto Valverde considers Sergio Busquets, Arthur Melo, and Frenkie de Jong all ahead of the former Sevilla midfielder in his pecking order and is looking to offload him as early as January.

Rakitic’s contract at the Camp Nou runs out in 2021, but the Catalans are willing to let him go for around €35m after he registered just one La Liga start this season.

According to Sempreinter, the Croatian’s future lies at the Giuseppe Meazza, as the Nerazzurri look to bolster Antonio Conte’s options in the midfield.

Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio has already initiated talks with the Blaugrana over a potential January deal and has received an encouraging response.

Well aware of his current status at the club, the 31-year-old is also willing to move to the Serie A outfit, where he would unite with his international teammate Marcelo Brozovic.

A transfer to Italy would be beneficial for all parties involved, especially Rakitic, who, given his age, might not find another opportunity to sign a lucrative contract.

Manchester United are also interested in Rakitic, but their chances of securing his services have diminished following a torrid start to the season.
