Atletico Madrid starlet Joao Felix has expressed his delight to join the club and revealed the reasons to snub Manchester City and Juventus among others to link up with the Spanish giants
Los Colchoneros have completed the most expensive transfer so far this summer by paying Benfica €126m to secure Felix’s services.
Widely regarded as the most talented youngster, the 19-year-old forward has arrived at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano as a direct replacement for the outgoing Antoine Griezmann.
Delighted to become a part of the Madrid-based heavyweights, the Portuguese whizz-kid has explained why he opted to join Atletico over other lucrative offers.
“I’m very happy,” he told the club’s official website. “Everybody wants to play in the world’s best teams, and Atletico are one of them. Several clubs were interested, but I chose Atletico.”

“They are the one that I liked the most and the one which had the best conditions for me to go. Atletico are one of the best teams in the world.
“Every player wants to play for the world’s top clubs. The opportunity came up, and I’m here to give my all. They are a team that I’ve followed a lot in the Spanish league.
“I even saw them win the league and the Europa League. I also watched the two finals that they didn’t win. I’ve always followed the Spanish league, including Atleti.”
Felix, who has taken number seven, previously worn by Griezmann, is expected to spearhead Los Colchoneros attack next season along with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Diego Costa.
