Jose Mourinho is sure Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the Premier League top-four this season in spite of a slow start
Spurs have started the 2019/20 season with a whimper rather than a bang, picking up just three wins in the opening 12 Premier League fixtures.
A place in the bottom half of the table and a 13-point deficit to the top-four territory culminated in Mauricio Pochettino’s farewell last month.
Mourinho has managed to propel the North London outfit to the seventh place since taking over the reins by guiding Tottenham to three wins in four league games in charge.
The Portuguese manager will be looking to further bridge the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea when Spurs take on Wolverhampton at Molineux this weekend.
In the build-up to his team’s Sunday trip to Wolverhampton, the ‘Special One’ has expressed his confidence that Tottenham will end up securing the Champions League promotion.
“We know where we belong. We don’t belong to the second part of the table where we were, we don’t even belong to position seven or eight where we are in this moment,” Mourinho told TalkSPORT.
“We know where we belong, and we believe at the end of the season we are going to be there.
“But, if you can accelerate the process and get results to put you sooner or later in these positions obviously this is the best that can happen to us, but again we need a little bit of time.
“We improve in many things. And we’re going to improve. We have the talent and desire, so I am sure we are going to improve.”
Sunday’s encounter with Wolves will be Tottenham’s final warm-up match ahead of their massive showdown against Chelsea next week.
