Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has decided to keep hold of under-fire manager Ernesto Valverde, according to the latest reports
The Spanish manager has been under severe pressure ever since Barcelona’s Champions League elimination to Liverpool, which was the second time in a row that they’ve failed to capitalize on a three-goal lead from the first leg.
Things have gone from bad to worse for the former Athletic Bilbao boss after Valencia stormed past the Catalans in the Copa del Rey final last Saturday.

Although he was expected to be dismissed following a disastrous end of the season, the 55-year-old will remain in charge next season, according to Bartomeu.
Barcelona president has told ESPN: “I already said as much last weekend, after the Copa del Rey final [defeat to Valencia],” referring to his words about Valverde’s situation at Camp Nou, when he said the Spaniard will be sitting on the bench next year too.
The English news outlet has also reported that some members in the Barcelona hierarchy wanted to see Valverde gone, but Bartomeu has had the final say.
