Juventus have reportedly opened talks with Alexandre Lacazette’s entourages over a summer transfer from Arsenal according to latest reports in England
Lacazette has been a vital part of the Arsenal squad ever since joining the club from Lyon in 2017 for a reported fee of €53million plus €7m in add-ons.
Despite racking up 48 goals and 24 assists and forming a formidable attacking partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the past few years, the 29-year-old Frenchman has endured an underwhelming 2019/20 season.
Indeed, a lack of consistency throughout the ongoing campaign has seen Lacazette score just once away from home in the Premier League and lose Mikel Arteta’s trust.
Arteta has recently benched the French striker in favor of the 21-year-old teenage sensation Eddie Nketiah, fuelling speculations about a lack of confidence in the Gunners’ third most expensive signing ever.
Although Atletico Madrid long seemed to be leading the race for Lacazette’s signature, Juventus have taken their interest in the striker to the next step.
According to the Metro, the perennial Serie A champions have opened talks with the Arsenal star’s representatives over a potential summer deal.
Maurizio Sarri is keen to reinforce his attacking department ahead of the new season to support his bid to maintain Juventus’ domestic dominance and mount pressure on other Champions League contenders.
Additionally, Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo have both entered the twilight years of their professional careers, which requires the Turin giants to inject fresh blood into their aging attack.
Also, Higuain, who has played second fiddle to Ronaldo and Dybala for the majority of the season, could leave the Allianz Arena in the summer.
