Juventus are reportedly keen on bringing in two highly-rated youngsters, Sandro Tonali and Houssem Aouar, instead of accelerating their interest in Paul Pogba
For over a year now, Juventus have been only Real Madrid’s competitor in the race for the wantaway Manchester United midfielder, Pogba, who has also been trying to broker a move away from Old Trafford.
However, the perennial Serie A champions seem to have changed their priorities for the upcoming transfer window, as they now look for more ‘long-term’ solutions.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the Bianconeri have ‘set sights’ on in-demand Brescia youth academy product Sandro Tonali and one of the most coveted young midfielders in Europe, Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.
Although widely regarded as Andrea Pirlo’s heir in the Italy national football team, the 19-year-old Tonali seems to be a perfect combo of Pirlo and Gennaro Gattuso.
Technically gifted, yet, quite combative box-to-box midfielder, Tonali has attracted interest from half of Europe’s royalty despite enjoying his first-ever top-flight season.
The same goes for, Aouar, who has been Lyon’s standout performer ever since Memphis Depay picked up an ACL injury in the first half of the season.
In fact, the super-talented playmaker gained plaudits from Pep Guardiola last season when he impressed the Manchester City boss in the Champions League group stage.
The 21-year-old Frenchman has contributed nine goals and seven assists for Les Gones in all competitions this season and is on the verge of eliminating the Bianconeri from the Champions League.
Indeed, Rudi Garcia’s men secured a 1-0 home win over Juventus going into the return leg of their last-16 tie that will take place at the Allianz Stadium once the ongoing coronavirus crisis ends.
If the Turin giants switch their attention away from Pogba, the French World Cup winner may, in the end, remain at the Theatre of Dreams, as was recently suggested in the English media.
The 26-year-old has reportedly had a change of heart regarding his future at Manchester after being stunned by the impact Bruno Fernandes has had since arriving from Sporting Lisbon.
