Liverpool have reportedly rekindled their interest in the Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele as their efforts to sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner hit a stumbling block
Jurgen Klopp is a long-term admirer of Werner, whom he has identified as a perfect addition to his attacking line ahead of the summer transfer window.
With Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi, both expected to depart Anfield in the summer, Liverpool will have to add new pieces to their offensive department to remain competitive in the next season.
However, despite the Reds’ desperate desire to acquire Werner’s signature, the valuation of the player has so far been throwing a spanner in the works.
Since Leipzig value their prized asset at £50million while the Premier League giants are not ready to go over £30million, the German forward is likely to remain in the Bundesliga beyond the summer.
As per the Metro, Liverpool have reignited their interest in the injury-prone Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who will be allowed to leave Camp Nou after failing to live up to £135.5million Barca paid to sign from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
Indeed, several injury setbacks have restricted the lightning-fast winger to just 74 appearances in all competitions during his three-year stint in Spain.

Since he has tumbled down Quique Setien’s pecking order, Dembele has been put on the market, as the Catalan powerhouse look to raise funds to finance the signings of Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez.
Additionally, Dembele’s torrid time in La Liga has seen his price tag drop down to just £40million, which makes him quite affordable for Liverpool, who were silent over the past two transfer windows.
Klopp was interested in the talented Frenchman before he swapped Dortmund for Barcelona and is now again assessing the possibility of pursuing the 23-year-old forward.
But, Juventus could spoil Liverpool’s plans, as they hope to convince Barcelona to include Dembele as a part of the deal to take Miralem Pjanic away from Serie A.
