Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of the Rennes teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga, according to the latest reports in England
Manchester United and Arsenal both hold long-term admiration for the super-talented youngster, with the latter seeing their lucrative offer turned down by the French outfit last summer.
Now, Liverpool, who have been keeping close tabs on the midfielder this season, have made first contacts with Rennes to discuss the transfer, as per the Metro.
But, aware of the growing interest in their starlet, Les Rennais have slapped a £45million price tag on his head, which is the sizeable amount for a 17-year-old.
Jurgen Klopp sees Camavinga as a perfect long-term addition to his squad that would boost the physical presence in his midfield line, giving it some muscles and tenacity.
Barcelona are also listed among the suitors for Camavinga, but the Catalans will probably refrain from tabling an offer after making a few reckless big-money investments over the past couple of years.
Aside from the Catalans, Real Madrid have also shown ambition to bring the prodigy to La Liga, as part of Zinedine Zidane’s project of rejuvenating his aging squad.
The highly-rated Frenchman has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in French football, and with his current deal expiring in 2022, Rennes will have a strong bargaining position when they negotiate his sale.
Despite the young age, Camavinga has enjoyed a stunning breakthrough season in Ligue 1, making 25 starts – scoring once and providing two assists.
