Romelu Lukaku urges Inter Milan to build on their imperious form following another commanding Serie A victory.
Lukaku led the line on Sunday afternoon as Inter grabbed another routine win to solidify their position at the top of the standings. The Nerazzurri hammered Genoa 3-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza on the back of another Belgian’s masterful showing.
The 27-year-old striker weaved his way through the visitors’ backline to propel Inter to a flying start 30 seconds into the game. Lukaku was in the center of proceedings, setting up Matteo Darmian for the home side’s second and forcing Mattia Perin’s save that fell kindly for substitute Alexis Sanchez, who put the game to bed in the 77th minute.
Inter are now seven points clear of cross-town rivals AC Milan at the summit and have a whopping ten-point lead on reigning champions Juventus. The victory took Antonio Conte’s side to five consecutive Serie A wins and nine successive home league triumphs, bringing them a step closer to lifting the title.
Meanwhile, Lukaku bridged the gap on Serie A top-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo to a single goal, taking his tally for the ongoing league campaign to 18. The former Manchester United flop has scored and assisted in three top-flight fixtures on the bounce and is very much in the running for the coveted Capocannoniere award.

However, Lukaku prefers to keep his feet firmly on the ground, urging his teammates to maintain their devastating form.
“We are improving. We are on top of the table. It’s a nice feeling, but we must continue,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“We faced some defeats in these kind games last season, and we want to improve. I am really happy with the victory. Now we must focus on Parma, it’s not going to be an easy game.
“We want to show our opponents that we are here. We must focus on one game at a time. It was an important match after two back-to-back victories.
“We scored three goals and kept a clean sheet, perfect.
“I always want to improve, just like many other players: Barella, Bastoni, Skriniar, De Vrij. We are young, and we have room for improvement. We want to win these games, it’s a good feeling.”
