Lyon set new price tag on Aouar

Lyon have reportedly slapped a fresh price tag on the in-demand playmaker Houssem Aouar after receiving a formal offer from Arsenal

Arsenal saw their cash plus Matteo Guendouzi bid for Aouar knocked back by Lyon, as the Ligue 1 side look to make a hefty profit from selling their prized asset.

Mikel Arteta has identified the 22-year-old midfielder as his top priority for the summer after deeming the likes of Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil surplus to requirements.

Although new technical director Edu was quick to approach Lyon with a proposition of swapping out-of-favor Frenchman with highly-rated Aouar, the Gunners will have to improve their bid to land the youngster.

According to the Metro, Les Gones have opted to up the stakes after the playmaker’s remarkable showings in the Champions League, increasing his valuation from €40million to €60million.

Arsenal are looking to continue pursuing a deal to bring Aouar to the Emirates with determination, but Manchester City and Juventus are also in the race.

City boss Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on homegrown Lyon starlet on multiple occasions and could be poised to take his interest to the next level following David Silva’s departure.

The Spanish dynamo left the Etihad for Real Sociedad after his contract expired, freeing up space for a new midfielder.

On the other hand, Andrea Pirlo is hopeful to be granted the opportunity to put his own stamp on the Juventus squad after replacing Maurizio Sarri at the helm.

Blaise Matuidi already swapped Turin for the MLS side Inter Miami, while the future of Aaron Ramsey is still hanging in the air.
