Manchester United have reportedly accelerated their pursuit of the highly-rated Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish, reports in England confirm
The Red Devils have been in the market for a prolific playmaker since the last summer, with Grealish emerging as one of their top targets along with Leicester City’s James Maddison.
Although United captured Bruno Fernandes’ services in January, their intention of signing a top-class playmaker has not changed despite the Portuguese star got off to a flying start at Old Trafford.
Ed Woodward is understood to have backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s efforts to lure Grealish to the Theatre of Dreams and is already laying the groundwork for his summer arrival.
Indeed, according to the Manchester Evening News, United have recently stepped up their interest in the 24-year-old, hoping to seal the deal before the end of the season.

There’s a genuine feeling the Aston Villa captain will feature for England in the upcoming European Championship, and Manchester United fear his valuation can skyrocket.
Tied to Villa Park until 2023, Grealish allegedly has a £45million release clause included in his current contract, although the Lions have yet to admit its existence.
Nevertheless, the former Tottenham Hotspur target could be playing his last season at his boyhood club, especially considering Villa’s ongoing problems in the Premier League.
The Claret & Blue Army currently hover one point above the relegation territory, and if they fail to retain their top-flight status, it may as well mean Grealish could bid farewell to them in the summer.
