Manchester United and Inter Milan have reportedly opened discussions over a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Ivan Perisic, reports in England say
Despite enduring a torrid start to his life in Italy, Sanchez has notably improved his form since the resumption of football in June, becoming one of Inter’s essential first-team players.
Indeed, the 31-year-old forward has made seven starts in ten Serie A games post restart, notching two goals and adding seven assists to his name.
As a result, the ‘Nerazzurri’ are keen to extend Sanchez’s stay at the Giuseppe Meazza and even make it permanent.
According to the Daily Star, Inter and Manchester United are negotiating a swap deal that would see the Chile international remain in Lombardy and Ivan Perisic go the opposite direction.
Sanchez’s future lies far away from Old Trafford, as Manchester United have no intention of giving him a second chance after a dismal year-and-a-half stint.
Perisic, meanwhile, seems to be ticking many of the boxes for a type of player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to have at his disposal next season.
Despite failing to establish himself as a first-team regular at Bayern Munich, the Croatian winger has still racked up six goals and ten assists in 31 appearances during his loan spell in Bavaria.
Although the Bundesliga champions decided against exercising the £18m buyout option in the deal, Perisic will remain at the Allianz Arena until Bayern’s Champions League adventure is over.
Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of the 31-year-old Croat and could make a bid to take him to the Premier League when the transfer window reopens for business.
