Manchester United are reportedly preparing a massive cash-plus-player bid to land Leicester City’s James Maddison, according to reports from England
As per the Metro, Manchester United will offer Jesse Lingard plus £45 million to persuade Leicester to give up their star playmaker James Maddison.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been indispensable for the Foxes this season, racking up nine goals and three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
Since Brendan Rodgers’ arrival at the King Power Stadium, Maddison has become one of the most highly rated playmakers in the Premier League and has drawn attention from several major English clubs, including United and Manchester City.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intends to beat city rivals to the Englishman’s signature, as he looks to strengthen his squad in January to improve United’s chances of securing a top-four finish.
The Norwegian manager sees the former Coventry City man as a perfect solution to his ongoing problems in the middle of the park and is ready to give him a £150,000-a-week salary to convince him to swap allegiances.
Solskjaer is short of reliable midfield options, and with Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford hanging by a thread, he needs to add another top-class midfielder this winter.
