Manchester United are reportedly in the driver’s seat for Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, who has also been linked with a move to Inter Milan recently
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to bolster his midfield options this winter and has identified Vidal as his primary target for the January transfer window.
According to the Daily Express, the Red Devils have outmatched Inter’s bid for the Chile international even though the fee has yet to be disclosed.
Solskjaer needs to reinforce his squad to keep United’s hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League alive, especially after all three of his summer signings failed to live up to expectations.
Manchester United splashed out £150million in the summer to bring Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, and Daniel James on board, but none of them has managed to repay the club’s confidence.
The information about Vidal’s move to Old Trafford should, however, be taken with a grain of salt, as the Catalans have recently emphasized the former Juventus midfielder’s indispensability, insisting he will not leave the Camp Nou this month.
Meanwhile, Inter, who long seemed to be leading the way for the 32-year-old had pulled out of the race after Antonio Conte decided to go all-in for Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen.
