Corentin Tolisso’s agent gives his verdict of Manchester United’s interest in Bayern Munich midfielder

Corentin Tolisso’s agent Eric Castagnino has played down speculations linking the Bayern Munich midfielder with a transfer to Manchester United in the summer

Tolisso, who reportedly turned down the chance to join Manchester United before linking up with Bayern in 2017, has been struggling with injuries over the past two years.

Indeed, several severe injury setbacks have restricted the 25-year-old midfielder to just 28 appearances in all competitions over the past two seasons.

Since he has tumbled down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena and has just two years left on his contract, the reigning Bundesliga champions are ready to ship him out this summer.

Although the Red Devils remain keen on the sought-after Ajax prodigy Donny van de Beek, Real Madrid are frontrunners to land the 23-year-old star.

Recent reports in France have indicated that Manchester United have reignited their interest in the tireless box-to-box midfielder, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeks a new high-profile midfield addition.

But, United’s hopes of snapping up Tolisso have now suffered a blow, as the player’s agent Eric Castagnino rubbished speculations linking the Frenchman with a switch to Old Trafford.

“I’m not having any talks with Manchester United,” Eric Castagnino told Sky Germany, as relayed by the Metro.

“Corentin is currently injured, and his return to the pitch is currently a top priority.”

Paul Pogba’s departure that seemed a near-certainty before the coronavirus pandemic brought the Premier League season to a halt is now open to interpretation.

The French superstar has reportedly had a change of heart regarding his current status at Manchester United following Bruno Fernandes’ arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January.

The Portuguese playmaker has turned United’s fortunes in the Premier League around, almost single-handedly bringing the fallen giants back in contention for the top-four finish.

Real Madrid and Juventus still harbor an interest in the 27-year-old, who has allegedly entrusted his agent, Mino Raiola, with finding him a new club in the coming months.

However, against this backdrop, Solskjaer has recently admitted that he expects to see Pogba return to action when England’s top-tier football gets back underway on June 20.
