Manchester United have reportedly made fresh contacts with Fiorentina over Nikola Milenkovic after their efforts to bring in Harry Maguire from Leicester City came a cropper
Although Ole Gunnar Solskajer remains hopeful of engineering a transfer of his top defensive target, Leicester’s whopping demand in excess of £90million continues to bother the Norwegian.
The Red Devils heavily rely on the Foxes to soften their stance and drop their asking price for the England international, but it’s unlikely to happen, as Brendan Rodgers looks to tie Maguire down to the King Power Stadium with a captain’s armband.
Manchester United have made another attempt for Nikola Milenkovic, the central defender of Fiorentina, two days ago. As a result, the three-time Champions League winners have decided to step up their long-standing interest in the Serbian centre-half, whom they’ve been chasing for the last 12 months.
Emerged as one of the most talented defenders in Europe, Milenkovic was Viola’s mainstay in defense last season, having registered 34 Serie A appearances.
But, the 21-year-old won’t come cheap, as the Tuscan-based outfit slapped a £45m asking price on their prized asset.
The former Partizan Belgrade man, who can play either as a central defender or a right-back, ticks many boxes for the type of player Solskjaer is looking to capture this summer.
