Manchester United sent scouts to observe Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix in the Eagles’ 6-0 triumph over Maritimo on Monday evening
Two goals against Maritimo have helped the 19-year-old to get to the number of 13 in the Primeira League as he continues to impress this term.
Emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, Felix has attracted the interest from a host of European heavyweights including Manchester United, Manchester City, and Juventus.
The Turin giants have already made initial contacts with the player’s entourage Jorge Mendes, as Cristiano Ronaldo seems to be pushing the Bianconeri board to complete the transfer at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the Citizens have established some contacts with Benfica to talk about the youngster’s availability following his outstanding hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.
However, the Red Devils appear to be in the driver’s seat after sending two of the club’s most trusted emissaries to watch the Portuguese talent on Monday.

Joao Ferreira, who is entrusted with conducting United’s scouting in Portugal was accompanied by Simon Wells, who is regarded as a scout leader at Old Trafford.
United’s executives had the opportunity to enjoy another brilliant display from Joao Felix and with their recommendation the Premier League giants may decide to step up their long-standing interest in the pacey forward.
A stumbling block in the possible negotiations could be Felix’s whopping £104million release clause although all interested parties hope to get a discount.
