Manchester United’s interest in Barcelona forward Philippe Coutinho threatens to deprive Liverpool of millions worth of potential bonuses
Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool last January for a fee in the region of £142m including add-ons.
However, the 26-year-old has been underperforming ever since he landed at Camp Nou and has fallen out of favor with Ernesto Valverde.
Desperate to rejuvenate his career, the former Inter Milan man could depart La Liga at the end of the season, with Manchester United thought to be in the driver’s seat.

The Red Devils are keen to bolster their squad in order to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title, and the Brazilian playmaker has emerged as their top priority for the summer transfer session.
The 3-time Champions League winners could hurt their bitter rivals badly should they manage to capture Coutinho.
According to the deal, the Reds earn £4.2m for every 25 Coutinho’s La Liga outings for the Blaugrana.
Additionally, the Catalans have to pay the Merseysiders £4.4m in case they wrap up the Champions League title, which won’t be valid if the Brazil international joins another club.
