Manchester United chief Ed Woodward looks to sell six players to finance Jadon Sancho transfer

Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has reportedly compiled a list of six players he wants to sell to raise funds for the Borussia Dortmund starlet Jadon Sancho

Despite suffering significant economic damage by the coronavirus crisis, Manchester United are not willing to end their pursuit of Jadon Sancho and will test Dortmund’s resolve in the coming months.

The Red Devils have identified the 20-year-old winger as their top objective for the summer transfer window, but Sancho’s staggering £115million price tag has so far been a stumbling block United are yet to overcome.

Additionally, Borussia Dortmund have recently issued a warning to the Premier League side that they have until the end of the month to finalize the youngster’s switch to his homeland unless they are ready to wait for another year to make the deal happen.

However, according to the Daily Express, Ed Woodward has put six Manchester United outcasts up for sale in order to raise funds to finance the Englishman’s arrival.

The Old Trafford chief is reportedly ready to offload the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard, and Diogo Dalot.

None of those players fit in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for the next season, and Woodward is confident that their sales could help United raise enough money to bring in Sancho.

Sanchez and Smalling have spent the 2019/20 season on loan in Serie A with Inter Milan and Roma, respectively, and could extend their stay in Italy beyond the summer.

Rojo, who has found himself on the fringes of the Manchester United squad during Solskjaer’s tenure, is unlikely to return to Old Trafford after a six-month loan spell at Estudiantes.

Meanwhile, first-team opportunities have been at a premium for Jones, Dalot, and Lingard this season, and the trident is expected to continue their careers elsewhere next year.
