New AC Milan boss Marco Giampaolo is reportedly trying to figure out what position will suit Suso the most after the Spaniard struggled for form in the opening stage of the season
Ever since replacing Gennaro Gattuso, Giampaolo has been forcing Suso to play as a ‘trequartista’ although he has been shinning as a right-winger for the past two seasons.
The 25-year-old had been the Rossoneri standout performer under both, Gattuso and Vincenzo Montella, but they had been frequently using him as a winger.
With Hakan Calhanoglu being a shadow of a player he once was at Bayer Leverkusen and Lukas Paqueta still adapting to Serie A, the Milanese giants lack an elite playmaker that can take the reins and control the game.

And the former Liverpool attacking midfielder has indeed been Milan playmaker during the entire pre-season, showing that he can meet the requirements.
However, it’s been a quite different story in Serie A, as Suso’s ability to move into the channels and distribute the ball from the midfield to Piątek proved to be insufficient.
A natural-born winger as he is, Suso has been instinctively moving to the right flank, often trying to set up his teammates with deadly crosses from the right-hand side.
Even though Giampaolo wouldn’t past it Suso to succeed as a playmaker yet, he is already considering the possibility of shifting him back to his preferred position.
