Chelsea castaway Marcos Alonso has reportedly accepted Atletico Madrid’s offer to swap the Premier League for La Liga this summer
Even though the 28-year-old has played a prominent role under Maurizio Sarri, registering 39 top-flight outings for the Blues this term, he seems eager to return to Spain.
If the latest reports are to be true, the Spain international has made up his mind on departing Stamford Bridge after being left on the bench in the Europa League final.
The Pensioners pulled off a stunning 4-1 triumph over London rivals Arsenal, but Alonso spent the entire game on the bench.
Diego Simeone has to find a reliable left-back for the new season, as Lucas Hernandez has joined Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £68million, while Filipe Luiz will leave the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on a free transfer this summer.
Now that they have Alonso’s consent, Los Colchoneros have to find an agreement with Chelsea, which would see Simeone solving one of his many problems ahead of the new campaign.
The former Fiorentina man has previously performed for Atletico’s bitter rivals Real Madrid before moving to Bolton Wanderers back in 2010.
