Lautaro Martinez has taken a significant step towards securing a summer exit from Inter Milan, according to the latest reports in Spain.
It’s no secret that Lautaro Martinez wants to quit Inter Milan for quite some time. The Argentine, who emerged as Barcelona’s top transfer target in the summer, was trying to force his way out of Lombardy in the summer.
The Nerazzurri were hell-bent on keeping holds of the 23-year-old forward last summer. But, if it wasn’t for Barca’s financial fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a genuine feeling Martinez would have teamed up with Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.
Indeed, the former Racin Club star was desperate to link up with his compatriot on a club level. Martinez is still keen to secure a safe passage to La Liga, as evidenced by his latest act.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Lautaro has hired super-agent Jorge Mendes to spearhead his team of representatives in the upcoming negotiations.

Beto Yaque and Rolando Zarate have been taking care of Martinez’s interests throughout his entire footballing career. The duo will remain in charge of Lautaro’s affairs going forward, but they will follow Jorge Mendes’ lead until their client finds a new environment away from Italy.
As reported by the same source, the Portuguese bigwig will not be Martinez’s agent in the true sense of the word. However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s entourage will hold the reins until the Argentina international secure a big-money move to Spain.
A switch to Barcelona will be on the cards again next summer, although it will depend on whether or not the Catalan side will be able to overcome their financial struggle until then.
Real Madrid remain one of the options, especially given the way Los Blancos have been playing this season. Zinedine Zidane’s men have been reliant on aging Karim Benzema to shoulder the majority of the goalscoring burden. That said, Florentino Perez will be desperate to bolster his attacking line after having two relatively quiet transfer windows.
Summer is still far away, but Martinez’s recent actions are undoubtedly a statement of intent.
