Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly ready to launch a summer bid to reunite with Manchester City centre-back John Stones, reports in England suggest
Arteta is hopeful of being granted the opportunity to overhaul his squad in the summer, especially his defense that has shipped 36 goals in 27 Premier League matches so far this season.
According to the Daily Express, the Spaniard is keen to recruit the City misfit, John Stones, who he knows during his time at the Etihad.
The two worked together for three years before Arteta quitted the assistant manager job in Manchester to link up with the Londoners in December.
But, the 25-year-old won’t come cheap, as the reigning English champions look to recoup the entire £50million fee that they forked out to sign him from Everton in 2016.
Although he was initially projected as a future leader of City’s defense, the England international has never managed to establish himself as a permanent first-team fixture under Pep Guardiola.
Guardiola will reportedly sanction Stones’ summer sale, with the under-fire defender Nicolas Otamendi also expected to be deemed surplus to requirements at the end of the season.
