Newcastle United could reportedly sign the Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez this summer but not Gareth Bale, who has no interest in joining the Magpies
Newcastle are expected to have a busy summer after news of their impending takeover, with several household names, including Bale linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Real Madrid’s intention to get rid of the Welshman’s staggering salary is a known fact, but the 30-year-old forward apparently has no desire to link up with the Magpies.
Although Financial Fair Play rules will limit Newcastle’s spending in the upcoming transfer window, the Premier League side will look to add a few top-class players to their roster once their Saudi Arabian-backed takeover is performed.
James Rodriguez could be a viable option for Newcastle since he has struggled for regular first-team opportunities under Zinedine Zidane this season.
Indeed, the 28-year-old playmaker has registered just four La Liga starts after returning from a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich and will likely move on in the summer.

Rodriguez could end up strengthening Steve Bruce’s side, while their pursuit of Bale is likely to come a cropper, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
“Bale doesn’t have an interest, right now, in going to Newcastle, even if [the takeover] happens,” Balague said on his YouTube channel, as relayed by the Express Sport.
“And then yes, it’s true that there will be a limit due to Financial Fair Play.
“What’s interesting in the last couple of days is that [Aleksander] Ceferin, the head of UEFA, has said that they will be quite flexible on how Financial Fair Play will be allowed, which obviously should benefit Newcastle if the sale goes through.
“That’s the story basically, that Bale is not interested in going to Newcastle.
“But there are other players like Cavani, finishing contract, James, who Real Madrid want to get rid of, that they may be able to convince.
“They’re going to have to be clever in the market because they will have money and will be one of the few clubs that will have money, mostly from the Premier League – Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle. That will be about it.
“They will have to be clever about how they use that money, and that could be a way to just get loan deals, could get James on loan, Real Madrid would be happy to do so if they paid his wages or most of it.
“Cavani, if you get something like that, then you’re talking about serious business, Newcastle entering the equation of big deals.
“Not massive financially for the reasons I’ve told you, Financial Fair Play.”
In addition to Newcastle, several other Premier League clubs have taken interest in Rodriguez, including Manchester United, Everton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
