Niko Kovac has given an update over Bayern Munich’s pursuit of the Manchester City star Leroy Sane
The Bavarians are eager to adequately replace Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery after the legendary duo left the Allianz Arena earlier this summer.
The 23-year-old German international has emerged as Bayern’s prime objective this summer, with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge working around the clock to secure his way back to the Bundesliga.
Although the club’s president Uli Hoeness recently underlined City’s demands for the winger as “insane,” Niko Kovac has said that his bosses fight tooth and nail to find an agreement with the Citizens.
“Our club management is very committed behind it, and I’m very confident,” the 47-year-old coach told ZDF in Germany. “I assume that we can get it.”
“Leroy is a great footballer who has proved that in England and with the national team.”
Sane has enjoyed a decent 2018-19 Premier League campaign, managing ten goals and 11 assists to help his side claim their second successive league title.
However, the former Schalke 04 man has found himself on the fringes of Pep Guardiola’s squad in the closing stage of last season, and is, therefore, reluctant to extend his contract with City.
