Tiemoue Bakayoko has left Chelsea to return to AS Monaco on a season-long loan, with an option to buy
The 25-year-old spent the last season on loan at AC Milan and has left a good impression, but the Rossoneri’s shortage of cash has prevented them from making his stay permanent.
Although he was expected to be entrusted with a more prominent role after returning to Stamford Bridge, the French midfielder has struggled to convince Franck Lampard.
As a result, Bakayoko has left the Premier League for the second time, this time to return to the club where he made a name for himself.
According to Goal.com, the Paris-born international will play the next season at his former club, AS Monaco, as Chelsea’s loanee, but the French side will have an option to buy him for €42.5million next summer.
Bakayoko was an integral part of Les Monégasques’ golden generation that wrapped up the Ligue 1 title in 2016/17 which earned him a move to London for a reported fee of £40million.
